Setting limits enables you to narrow your searches by restricting
them to certain years, languages, types,
mediums, or TUG
locations. A Quick Limit feature allows you to apply
a single limit to a search from the search screen. A Set More
Limits feature connects you to the full set limits page.
- Set search limits BEFORE choosing a search
type.
- Limits may be set for all searches except Author, Subject, Call
Number, and Course Reserve.

You may apply only one limit to a search by selecting one criterion
in the Quick Limits box.
To limit by language, form, or location, select the appropriate
criterion from the scrolling menus. You can limit by combining categories
(e.g., language and publication date) but only by one criterion
per category at a time (e.g., French, but not both German and French.)

by a single year, enter it in the box.
To limit to works
published after a certain year, click the " > "
button. For example, to find items published after 1990, type
1990 in the text box and then click the radio button next to the
greater than symbol (>).
To limit to works
published before a certain year, click the " < "
button. For example, to find items published before 1850, type
1850 in the text box and then click the radio button next to the
less than symbol (<).
To limit to works published within a range of years,
enter the earliest year in the box marked
then enter the latest year in the box marked .
To limit by language,
location, medium or item type select the
appropriate criterion from the scrolling menus. You can limit by
combining categories (e.g., language and publication date) but only
by one criterion per category at a time (e.g., French, but not both
German and French.)
Click "Set Limits."
These will stay in effect until you erase them.
Click on the "Clear Limits" button
to clear limits.
