The Canadian Copyright Act permits libraries to make copies on behalf of library patrons for the purpose of research or private study, criticism and review. Libraries are permitted to make a single copy of certain articles from certain newspapers or periodicals, provided the person for whom the copy is made will make use of the article only for the purpose of research or private study. For more information on copying permitted under Canadian Copyright Law, see the Copyright Act.
Note that the submission of a Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan or TUGdoc article request constitutes agreement that use of the copy received will be solely for the purpose of research or private study, and that the requester has not previously received a copy of the requested article.
When a Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan or TUGdoc article request cannot be copied under the Access Copyright agreement or the above Canadian Copyright Act regulations, Interlibrary Loan staff may be able to provide you with a legal copy through a commercial supplier. Otherwise, you will be advised that your request cannot be filled through this service.
